You’ve asked for it and we delivered! Our PixPublisher photo book editor now supports the uploading of PNG files with transparency. This means you can now create your own stickers with which to embellish your photo books! This is great for anyone who wants to add their logo! It’s also great for scrapbookers. Instead of designing it in Photoshop and uploading it, now you can skip that step and upload your strickers straight to your gallery.
So how does it work? At the import step where you upload your photos, just upload your transparent PNG files as you would any other photo. Once you’re in the editor, go to the iamges tab and you’ll see a new category at the bottom called Decorations. That’s wnhere your uploaded PNG files will be.
Enjoy the new welcomed change! By the way, PNGs are intended to be used as stickers/decorations, not as an alternate format for your photos. As a result, when you add them to your book they will be treated as stickers. i.e. you can’t pan, then crop them, frame them, etc. However, you will be able to color fill them and stretch them.
You now have more options to make your photo book .. your way. We now offer customized end papers. You can now choose whether to have end papers in your photo books. You can also choose the color of end pages. This is perfect as it will add to your design and make for better flow. One last addition, add our logo to the back end papers and save $2.00 on your photo book. Questions? Feel free to email me at email@example.com.
In this week’s tip for our PixPublisher, we focus on a feature that will bring color to your photo book. One of the most power features of PixPublisher is the ability to change the color of any sticker or frame to whatever color you want. This can be done by the use of the color fill option. Changing a sticker’s color is easy, just follow these steps:
1. Select a sticker or frame in by clicking on it.
a) choose a color from the palette
b) manually enter a color code into the input box
c) use the eyedropper tool to pick a color by clicking anywhere on the screen.
4. Once you’ve chosen a color, you’ll see the sticker or frame change to that color.
Changing colors is an extremely powerful feature that can be used in many creative ways. Not only can you change the colors of stickers to suit the palette for your project, you can use a combination of color fill and opacity to tint your photos by adding colored layers over them. You can also create custom colored backgrounds by re-coloring transparent overlays, and much more.
We’re so excited to announce that all our custom cover photo books are now available in even numbered page counts. This is the first time we have ever offered this service since we first started producing photo books back in December of 2008. You can now choose between 14 and 76 pages. You have the freedom to build the book you want, without compromising on the beauty and durability you’ve come to expect from AdoramaPix.
Adding extra pages in PixPublisher is easy. All books now start with the minimum 14 pages. Click on the +/- icon at the bottom right corner of the editor screen to add any number of additional spreads to your book. There is a fixed cost for each spread, and the new total cost for your book is reflected in the upper right of the editor on the order button. Once you’ve added pages beyond the minimum of 14, you can remove pages in the same way and just as easily.
We believe this small change will make a big difference when it comes to designing photo books with Adoramapix.
Each Thursday, we carve out a little niche in the internet world on our blog to talk about all things photo book related. This week we have something special with a change in our Pix Publisher software.
Hold on to your hats, we’ve added a long awaited change to our pixpublisher editor – the ability to make changes to your entire photo book at once. In other words, if you wanted to make a change such as replacing all text in your photo book from Arial in black to Times New Roman in red, you can now do so with a single mouseclick.
Why is this a big deal? Well, let’s say you’re making a wedding album and you like one of the wedding templates we offer, but the colors used in the template don’t match your wedding colors. Using the old method, you had to go through the whole book clicking on every piece of text, every background, every sticker, changing them appropriately. Now you can change the whole book in moments. Here’s how it works.
The first way to do it is using the new Apply to All option. This works like a copy/paste to your entire book. In other words, change your object to the settings you like, then click Apply to All and every other object of the same type in your book will be changed to the same settings.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Be aware, this will change all instances of that type of object to the exact same settings, which can sometimes have unexpected results. For example, say you had a black and white themed wedding template and you select some black Arial 22pt text and change the font to Carla Thin and click Apply to All. You may be surprised by the following results:
1. Even though you only changed the font, all the settings were copied. Thus, if your photo book has some black pages with white text on them, the white text will also get changed to black, making it essentially invisible against the black background.
2. If some of the text in your book is a different size – such as a larger point size on the cover title, and smaller point sizes along the spine and in paragraphs of text, all of those will get changed to 22 point as well
So, be careful when using the Apply to All because it does in fact copy all the settings from the selected object and applies them indiscriminately to all the similar objects in your book.
So what happens if you want to change a font without changing the colors or size throughout your book? That’s where the global settings menu comes in.
Along the left edge of your screen you’ll see a vertical row of tabs. Click the bottom one marked Settings. On the panel that opens you’ll see three categories:
These options will allow you to make changes to those types of elements throughout your photo book.
For example, if you would like to change just the font throughout your photo book without changing any of the other settings, you can do so here.
When you apply a change in the global settings menu, only the specific setting you change is applied.
We hope you enjoy this latest change. It should save you a lot of time when making sweeping changes to your Adoramapix photo books and it certainly makes it a lot quicker to modify our templates to match your personal vision.
